Noninvasive blood pressure measurement is arguably the most common and routine vital signs assessment performed in hospitals. In contrast, direct arterial pressure monitoring is standard in operating rooms and critical care settings. Yet despite measuring the same parameter, these two methods often yield significantly different systolic and diastolic values. This session will explore the physiological and technical factors underlying these discrepancies, equipping biomeds with a deeper understanding to support accurate monitoring and informed clinical communication.
