FROM HTM TO C-SUITE
This presentation will be two-fold. First we will provide an overview of the Department of Veterans Affairs Technical Career Field Biomedical Engineer Training Program and other leadership trainings available through the VA that have enabled biomedical engineering staff to climb the ladder to the C-Suite. We will also provide examples of biomedical engineers in the VA that have made this climb and how they did it. Second, we will describe the benefits of having hospital executive leaders with clinical engineering backgrounds and what methods these leaders used to get where they are professionally. We will also touch on how healthcare leadership organizations can help upcoming biomedical leaders to become healthcare executives through scholarships, executive internships and educational programs.
