Implementing a Medical Device Security Program: Aligning with System Strengths
Thursday, April 13, 2:45-3:45pm
Penn State Health was faced with the challenge of remediating cybersecurity audit findings. While most critical activities and systems were accounted for, medical device security practices were heavily scrutinized, and the audit findings shed light on a security gap in the organization.
The Clinical Engineering department was accountable for the remediation of the audit findings. With limited internal resources being available to engage in the audit remediation, Penn State Health sought out a comprehensive offering that would satisfy the requirements defined in the audit and assist in building a long-term, sustainable solution for medical device security.
This case study is to share the methodical approach to satisfying the audit findings while creating an iterative program and to share lessons learned along the way.
